System Restoration
This series of online modules focuses on system restoration procedures and guidelines to be followed during restoration conditions at PJM. The first module starts with a discussion on the various types and causes of blackouts followed by how to complete the initial system assessment and reporting requirements. Next, the discussion focuses on how to determine both generator and transmission system status followed by the various elements or approaches to system restoration and a review of black start generating units and the associated requirements. Topics of discussion in the next few modules include the process for restoring power to critical facilities, coordinating load pick-up, requirements for monitoring frequency during the restoration process and maintaining adequate reserves.
