As we continue to focus on lowering emissions on the grid, PJM adheres to the same principles when it comes to how we operate our campus. Environmental sustainability is evident in all we do as a company. It’s more than just an idea – it’s part of our culture as an organization.
Energy Conservation
PJM’s buildings incorporate energy-efficient features, including smart lighting, heating and air conditioning controls and low-water flushing in the restrooms. Our campus reflects our commitment to sustainability by featuring electric vehicle charging stations and smart building designs, including:
- Daylight Harvesting - PJM buildings use special daylight-harvesting sensors to gauge the brightness outside and automatically adjust indoor lights, making the buildings more energy efficient.
- Occupancy-Sensor Lighting Fixtures - These sensors automatically turn off lights when rooms are empty to reduce energy usage.
- Touchless Water Faucets - The touchless water faucets Installed throughout PJM campuses reduce water usage and the spread of germs.

PJM follows Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design guidelines for our facilities in support of sustainable green buildings.
Landfill Free
The Valley Forge and Milford campuses divert from landfills 100% of waste generated through a trash-to-steam program. Non-recyclable waste material, including food garbage, is turned into green renewable energy through this program.
